Hydrodermabrasion is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses a combination of water and suction to exfoliate and hydrate the skin. It is similar to traditional microdermabrasion, but instead of using crystals or diamond tips to physically exfoliate the skin, it uses water and oxygen to gently remove dead skin cells and impurities.

During a hydrodermabrasion treatment, a handheld wand is used to spray a stream of water and oxygen onto the skin while simultaneously suctioning away dead skin cells and debris. The pressure and intensity of the treatment can be adjusted to suit the individual’s skin type and concerns.

Hydrodermabrasion is a versatile treatment that can be used to improve a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne, and dull, dry skin. It is also a gentle and safe treatment that is suitable for most skin types, including sensitive skin.

The benefits of hydrodermabrasion include improved skin texture and tone, increased hydration, reduced pore size, and a more youthful and radiant complexion. It can also stimulate collagen production, which can help to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin over time.

Overall, hydrodermabrasion is a safe and effective treatment option for those looking to improve the appearance and health of their skin. It is important to work with a licensed and experienced skincare professional to determine if hydrodermabrasion is right for you and to ensure that the treatment is performed safely and effectively.

One of the most sensational advancements in skincare over the years has been in exfoliation. The simple rejuvenation of skin cells makes a huge difference to the complexion. By supporting the outermost layer of the skin, we are able to completely transform the way your skin looks, feels and functions – be that with peeling or other methods.

Microdermabrasion is a method that has been used for a number of years, but it’s not my favourite. I find it too harsh and abrasive for many skin types. I’ve never seen the benefits and often found skin can become over sensitised, so it’s not something I have personally used or recommended.

However, I am a firm believer that exfoliating and supporting the skin’s surface (the epidermis) is essential for ageing well. But we really want to work with it, not disrupt it. Which is why I absolutely LOVE hydrodermabrasion – so let me show you why one of my favourite treatments.

You’ve probably heard of microdermabrasion which provides a deeper exfoliation thanks to the diamond crystal head. Hydrodermabrasion is a more gentle way to do just that, which makes it suitable for the most sensitive skin types too.

Hydrodermabrasion facial uses the healing powers of water to lift out impurities. It’s gentle, cleanses pores, promotes rejuvenation.

Glowing, radiant skin without a single is something we all dream of. No amount of makeup can really help if our skin isn’t healthy and smooth, so many people have integrated an occasional professional facial into their routine.

But which facial is the best?

There are so many options it can be very hard to choose. Okay, if you’re dealing with a severe skin condition, you’ll go to a dermatologist and get a therapy plan and a recommendation. But if you just want to maintain facial hygiene and boost the glow of your skin, you probably get confused by the long, long lists of services spas offer.

Well, today we’re talking about everyone’s favorite facial – hydro dermabrasion. Here’s all you need to know.

WHAT IS HYDRODERMABRASION?

Hydro dermabrasion is a gentle yet effective facial treatment that provides a thorough exfoliation, a deep cleanse and an intense plump, resulting in instant anti-aging effects, better skin texture, and a radiant appearance.

You might have heard of microdermabrasion before. Hydrodermabrasion is a softer, more gentle treatment option for those looking for dewy, healthy, hydrated skin. It brightens, freshens, and smooths out the skin. It’s a type of exfoliation that takes microdermabrasion to the next level in a much kinder way – respecting the skin’s barrier, not disrupting it.

It combines vacuum suction, which I personally use to support the detoxification of the skin and lymphatic system. It aids in the reduction of puffiness and supports the underlying health of the complexion. The diamond-tipped heads smoothly glide over the surface of the skin, gently removing dead skin cells as it goes, while also infusing hydration into the skin in combination with my personally selected cleansing products. My methods are gentle but really effective – perfect for aiding product penetration and making extractions a little easier!

It’s actually a spin-off on microdermabrasion (which is, in turn, a spin-off on the original dermabrasion), so it utilizes the principle of simultaneous exfoliation and suction of dead skin from the surface of the epidermis. But hydro dermabrasion features an additional step – an infusion of solutions that provide a deeper cleanse of the pores.

If this sounds familiar, you’ve probably heard about this treatment under the name hydrafacial, but this is just a branded name for the treatment. Hydro dermabrasion is done with an elaborate device, and many brands manufacture hydro dermabrasion machines. Different salons carry different brand machines, so they may call the treatment different names.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Depending on the results you’re looking for, I could opt for something for slightly deeper exfoliation or just a light polish. At the same time, a range of high-pressured streams of carefully selected hydrating fluids give the diamond tip a helping hand, allowing the skin to stay hydrated throughout. And yes, it’s just as decadent as it sounds!

Hydrodermabrasion is highly effective in improving the skin’s overall texture, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and giving deeper hydration to the skin. Congested and enlarged pores will become cleaner and smaller over time, if you stick to a regular facial regime.

What Can a Hydro Dermabrasion Facial Do?

Hydradermabrasion delivers several effects in 1:

  • Exfoliates the stratum corneum – the layer of dead skin cells is removed, revealing better skin underneath
  • Cleanses the pores – the contents of all pores is sucked out
  • Disinfects the skin – a disinfecting solution is infused into the cleansed pores, preventing breakouts
  • Provides deep hydration – a mix of hydrating and nourishing ingredients is injected deep into the pores

Basically, it evens out your skin tone and texture, leaving the skin smoother and healthier. The powerful infusions make the skin plumper, which diminishes fine lines and wrinkles for an anti-aging effect.

WHO IS IT BEST FOR?

This is the best part – everyone! All skin types can benefit from hydrodermabrasion. It’s non-invasive and much kinder to the skin. Meaning there’s no downtime or redness.

I have total control over the effect I want to achieve on the skin (and, essentially, the level of exfoliation used). It can be as intense or mild as I need it to be. So, no matter your skin type, there is a form of hydrodermabrasion that is going to be great for your complexion. As a result, it can be easily added into your bespoke facials to really boost the achievable results.

However, I wouldn’t use this if you have sensitive skin or rosacea.

The gentle abrasion tool removes the top layer of dead skin and provides a crystal-free exfoliation:

  • Water is sprayed over skin at a supersonic speed, removing dead skin cells and allowing deep hydration.
  • The gentle water jet releases the pores from dirt, cosmetic residues, toxic substances, excessive sebum and bacteria.
  • The process itself takes about 15-20 minutes. The water that is used can be infused with minerals and vitamins – depending on your skin’s type and needs.
  • The treatment will increase circulation to your skin.
  • Hydrodermabrasion can be used as a preparatory step to a facial treatment, just like a scrub, and will provide better absorption for all the nutrients that will follow.
  • This treatment will not over-exfoliate – the peeling is super gentle to your skin.
  • It’s very relaxing, with zero discomfort felt.
  • It’s an excellent choice for people who have tender or very sensitive skin. Super effective if you have darker skin tones, ageing skin, skin that is congested and/or blemished, as well as dry skin. Oily skin can benefit too as hydro-dermabrasion helps to make it less greasy, and pores can be shrunk.
  • It’s totally suitable for both ladies and gents, but the face has to be freshly shaved.
  • If you have mild acne scars, their appearance can be reduced, and fine lines can be decreased. Your skin will see the results immediately after the procedure.
  • It’s the perfect treatment if you need a gentle but thorough facial directly before a big event, such as a wedding.
  • If you have dark spots like age-spots and hyper-pigmentation here and there, hydro-dermabrasion will help to eliminate them over time.

Thanks to its gentle properties, hydro-dermabrasion is perfectly suitable to perform in wintertime.

Do you want to try it? It’s now an integral part of most of our facial treatments (facials for problem skins) No extra cost, just pure goodness.

WHY IS IT SO FANTASTIC?

It’s a great addition for creating a smooth, fresh complexion because it brightens and adds a gorgeous glow. But it’s as safe and gentle as it is effective. I’ve seen the difference adding hydrodermabrasion can make to skin in need of a glow, and those that feel their skin is dull and need some textural improvement.
